    This role has been developed to manage a number of key talent pipelines within SPEN. The primary focus of the postholder is to support SPEN trainees throughout their learning programmes, these include Apprenticeships (Logistics, Graduate, Craft & Engineering), Craftspersons, Graduates, Year In Industry Students, Power Academy Scholars, Summer Placements and any other programmes.
    The Workforce Development Lead will take the lead in developing new training programmes in conjunction with our Learning & Development, and wider People, team to meet the needs of the business in the journey to Net Zero.
    The individual will also conduct regular progress reviews to ensure trainees are progressing as planned in accordance to the requirements of the funding body (UK Government).

    What you will be doing
    As a Workforce Development Lead, you will:
    • Coach, mentor and manage trainees across various training programmes and disciplines
    • Proactively manage current Development Programmes in place within the Business and ensure delivery in conjunction with Business requirements
    • Proactively planning and liaising with key stakeholders in the different departments to successfully strategically plan future workforce requirements
    • Any new skill requirements are discussed with stakeholders and HR Learning to map out appropriate training programmes to meet the business requirements
    • Liaising with Learning & HR teams to ensure technical training requirements are booked, delivered and records updated
    • Developing, maintaining and enhancing customer relations with key business stakeholders including management, H&S, HR and external educational providers
    • Support Learning in evaluating training providers to ensure they are effective in the delivery of educational requirements
    • Support local management teams in providing accurate training data for audits and balanced scorecards as and when required
    • Support the Workforce Planning Team in the preparation of budgetary requirements
    • Ensure trainees have effective progress reviews and implement focused support plans where necessary to ensure successful completion of training programmes
    • Liaison with other departments and other service providers within Energy Networks to assist in delivery of overall objectives
    What you will bring
    • People management experience – with a capability of communicating with all levels of the business in financial, technical and business terms
    • Demonstrate an ability to work with, develop, coach and mentor others
    • Knowledge and understanding of craft, operational and engineering skills, activities and working methods relevant to Energy Networks
    • Knowledge of company safety rules and awareness of Health & Safety legislation
    • Working knowledge of HR policies and procedures
    • High degree of self-motivation & Enthusiasm
    Minimum Requirements
    • Experienced People Manager with a capability of communicating with all levels of the business in financial, technical and business terms
    • Working knowledge of company code of conduct, disciplinary procedures and other HR guidance documentation
    • Working knowledge of company Health & Safety requirements and compliance
    • An effective and confident written and verbal communicator
    • High degree of self-motivation & Enthusiasm
    • Computer literacy – e.g. Microsoft Office suite
