Welder joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Being a Welder inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment. Additionally, Welder may prepare the materials and set up for a welding device or robot. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Welder works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Welder/Fabricators duties may vary based on the department they are in and the item being manufactured in it. Designing, cutting, shaping stainless steel, joining together parts by using either manual or automated welding equipment; repairing or creating new items.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel. Employee frequently is required to stand and reach with hands and arms.
