Position Description

JOB TITLE:                                        Web Developer

DEPARTMENT:                                   IT Department 

LOCATION:                                       Simpsonville, South Carolina (this job requires on-site 5 days a week)

REPORTS TO:                                   Manager of IT and Development

FLSA CLASSIFICATION:                  Salaried, exempt

POSITION PURPOSE

The Web Developer is responsible for working with the 9Round Development team to develop and support our core website and various software & web application technologies associated with our brand.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBITIES

• Responsible for designing, developing, testing, operating, and maintaining products using PHP.
• Maintains and improves company website and existing web applications.
• Creates responsive front end web design for core product and existing web applications.
• Works with marketing team to deliver new development features within a set amount of time.
• Contributes to all phases of the development lifecycle.
• Solves complex performance problems and architectural challenges.
• Documents and tracks all issues thoroughly in the ticketing system to make certain that all problems are addressed within appropriate timeframes.
• Contributes to and participates in peer code reviews.
• Bug test, troubleshoot and support new website features, web applications & software rollouts.
• Assists with preventative and emergency server maintenance.
• Ensures all aspects of product development follow compliance and security best practices.
• Provides backup support for other IT personnel in the daily operations of the IT Department
• Commitment to exercise at least 3x week preferred.
• Performs additional duties as assigned, as this list does not reflect all the duties and responsibilities of the Web Developer.

Skills:

• Proficiency in HTML5/CSS and JavaScript.
• Understanding of MVC architectural/design pattern.
• Specific YII2 Framework experience is not required but professional work experience with frameworks based on this model such as Laravel, Symfony, Codelgniter is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of the common PHP or web server exploits and their solutions.
• Experience with MySQL.
• Knowledge of jQuery Library.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and web services.
• Familiarity with version control systems like Git and development tools.
• Experience with template engines like Twig not required but preferred.
• Knowledge of Linux OS.
• Experience with end user ticketing systems like Zendesk preferred.
• Experience with React, Angular or Vue is a plus.
• Experience with Node.js. is a plus.

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field or comparable work experience.

Experience:       

• 4 Years professional experience in PHP Development.
• 2 Years professional JavaScript Development experience.

Work Environment:

• Works primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to be punctual and attend work on a regular and consistent basis.
• Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.
• Ability to concentrate with various interruptions, weather conditions, and noise levels.
• Must be able to talk, hear, use hands, fingers, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
• Must be able to stand and walk 50% of the time.
• Occasionally will be expected to lift boxes not to exceed 30 pounds.
