Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate a variety of machine tools (mills, lathes, wire edm, edm, laser) to produce precision parts and instruments
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
- Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy
- Collaborate with engineers and other machinists to develop new machining processes
- Troubleshoot issues with machines or equipment as they arise
Requirements:
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of machining principles
- Proficiency in using a variety of tools and equipment, including bore gauges, calipers, milling machines, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
- Experience with programming or other CAM programming software
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or product specifications
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain high levels of precision in machining operations
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues with machines or equipment
- Ability to weld and fabricate parts is a plus
