Volunteer Coordinator supervises and leads the daily undertakings of a volunteer program to attract, inspire, train, and deploy volunteers. Leads the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of volunteer workers. Being a Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for training and educating volunteers. Motivates and inspires volunteers to encourage teamwork. Additionally, Volunteer Coordinator evaluates and reviews volunteer schedules and makes adjustments as necessary. Ensures that the activities of the volunteer workers meet the needs of the organization. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Volunteer Coordinator supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions.     POSITION PURPOSE

    The Recruitment Coordinator will primarily be responsible for increasing the number of children in our service area who have a Big Brother, Big Sister, or Big Couple in their lives through the recruitment of volunteer mentors and outreach to youth and families. Expand community awareness and involvement of and with the agency through networking, public speaking, and hosting recruitment events and campaigns.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Responsible for creating and generating new contacts for a variety of departments: development,
    • volunteer/child recruitment, marketing, program, etc., to assist with driving and attaining departmental and agency goals.
    • Represent, promote, and be able to speak about the organization at a variety of events throughout our service area to obtain new leads and contacts.
    • Provide exceptional customer service to all internal and external customers.
    • Network and build rapport and positive relationships with all external and internal customers and partners to recruit and retain contacts and grow partnership opportunities including local businesses, association memberships, corporate partner and agency events, chambers of commerce, diversity-focused affinity groups, etc.
    • Cultivate relationships and provide a menu of options to prospective contacts about the variety of ways they can support BBBSM including becoming a Big, corporate sponsor, donor, special events participant, hosting a match activity, volunteering at an event, becoming a community partner, etc.
    • Organize and conduct Information Sessions, presentations, and recruitment events, as needed.
    • Maintain a positive image of the brand at all times and understand brand guidelines.
    • Engage existing Bigs and potential future Bigs through the agency’s social media accounts.
    • Network throughout the communities in the agency’s service area/Omaha metro.
    • Annually increase the number of interested and enrolled potential volunteers, families and youth.
    • Develop and implement volunteer recruitment and youth outreach plan through an increasing number of regular face-to-face activities in the community, corporate, collegiate, and civic environments. Includes engaging existing volunteers and parents in volunteer recruitment and youth outreach efforts.
    • Cultivate long-term sustaining relationships with mentor and youth-rich organizations, collaborators and other third parties through effective stewardship and communication.
    • Regularly analyze and utilize the agency’s geographic scorecard and demographic model to adjust efforts and focus to appropriately balance volunteer recruitment and youth outreach needs by geography and by the current ratio of children participating in each program.
    • Provide content to the Marketing Team in a timely manner for the promotion of recruitment events and campaigns.
    • Track and evaluate the results of recruitment and outreach efforts. Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly progress reports for both volunteer recruitment and youth outreach efforts and forecast returns on upcoming campaigns/efforts.
    • Participate in trainings and/or continuing education on relevant material for professional development.
    • Support, and collaborate with, other departments, including fundraising and marketing, along with the agency’s DEI efforts, to accomplish organization goals.
    • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or CEO.

    EDUCATION & RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE

    Education Level: Minimum Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, social work or related field preferred.

    Related Work Experience: Experience in the nonprofit sector, public relations, marketing, sales, communications, customer service and/or volunteer recruitment a plus. Must be comfortable speaking in public, networking and developing business relationships. Must have car, valid driver’s license, and meet state required automobile insurance minimums.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Routine office environment; travel to communities and neighborhoods in the service area is required. Flexible work hours to meet customer and agency needs, including occasional evenings and weekends.
