Being a Tumor Registrar performs data analysis and provides reports used by researchers, physicians, institutions, and patients. Adheres to all coding and privacy policies, guidelines, and regulations. Additionally, Tumor Registrar may require an associate degree or equivalent. Requires Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential. May require Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Deputy Registrar: Part-Time
General Definition
Part-time position offering approximately 15-20 hours a week, subject to change during certain seasons based on job demands.
Perform complex and significant administrative work in the City of Staunton Voter Registration office assisting the Director of Elections/General Registrar, both in and out of the office as it relates to the administration of elections. Assist the Director of Elections/General Registrar with maintaining voter registration records and assisting candidates and the general public.
The Director of Elections/General Registrar is appointed by the three-member Electoral Board, who oversees the performance of the Registrar.
Organizational Relationship
Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Director of Elections/General Registrar. Responsible for the daily operation of the office in the absence of the Director of Elections/General Registrar.

Physical Demands
This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects. Position requires stooping, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, and repetitive motions. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities. Work is generally performed in an office environment.

Applicant must be able to assist the Director of Elections/General Registrar and Electoral Board fulfill their duties as specified by the Code of Virginia. The Deputy Registrar will assist with the following duties, though this list is not exhaustive of all duties:

Special training on election law will be provided on an ongoing basis.
Education equivalent to a High School Diploma required.
Preferred continued education and/or experience in relation to data entry, clerical work, and elections.
