Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty or in a related area and may require state licensure. Additionally, Trader (Government Securities) typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Trader (Government Securities) work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Duties
As a Supervisory Government Securities Specialist, You Will- Develop Branch goals and objectives, independently or jointly with higher management, with the intent to monitor progress toward achieving those goals.
- Lead and evaluate long-range planning for the Branch.
- Provide advice to the Director on changes to and schedules for programs or major projects.
- Plan work to be accomplished by the branch and set priorities as well as deadlines for its completion.
- Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, consideration of the difficulty and requirements of the assignment, and the capabilities of the employees and/or section.
Requirements
Conditions of Employment- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- A one-year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation. Periodic reinvestigation is required no later than five years after selection and at least every succeeding five years.
- Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.
- Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
- This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. For The GS-14, You Must Have One Year Of Specialized Experience At a Level Of Difficulty And Responsibility Equivalent To The GS-13 Grade Level In The Federal Service. Specialized Experience For This Position Must Include Providing Financial, Technical Or Policy Analysis Related To Marketable Securities Or The Underlying Systems Used For The Issuance Of Treasury Securities. Such Experience Could Include
Analyzing and developing solutions to enhance organizational, process, and operational efficiencies dealing with financial operations; OR
Coordinating, leading, and prioritizing work for subordinate employees or a project team dealing with financial operations; OR
Experience, in writing and in person, presenting technical findings to varied audiences, exchanging ideas, defending rationale, presenting recommendations, and negotiating solutions to sensitive issues related to financing and commercial book-entry matters.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.
