    Job Description

    My client is looking for a service-minded freight broker to act as a liaison between our customers and freight carriers. The freight broker will secure new accounts, expedite the sharing of information and documentation between customers and carriers, and communicate with drivers to track the status of loads.

    To ensure success in this position you need to maintain current knowledge of freight carrier services and be effective in attracting new customers and ensuring customer retention. Top applicants are customer-oriented and can multitask in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.


    Duties:

    • Act as a liaison between customers and freight carriers, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
    • Secure new accounts by actively prospecting and identifying potential customers in need of freight services.
    • Maintain current knowledge of freight carrier services, rates, and regulations to provide accurate and up-to-date information to customers.
    • Expedite the sharing of information and documentation between customers and carriers, ensuring seamless coordination of shipments.
    • Track the status of loads by communicating with drivers, monitoring delivery schedules, and addressing any issues or delays that may arise.
    • Provide exceptional customer service by promptly addressing inquiries, concerns, and complaints, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention.
    • Negotiate rates and contracts with freight carriers to ensure competitive pricing and favorable terms for customers.
    • Coordinate and schedule shipments, taking into account customer requirements, carrier capabilities, and delivery deadlines.
    • Monitor and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify opportunities for business growth and improvement.
    • Collaborate with internal teams, such as operations and logistics, to optimize processes and streamline operations.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of customer interactions, transactions, and shipments using appropriate systems or software.
    • Prepare and present reports on sales activities, customer feedback, and performance metrics to management.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 5 years experience in a 3PL environment
    • Proven track record of exceeding revenue and margin goals
    • Ability to handle the entire sales cycle and experience in a cradle-to-grave environment, or past operations experience
    • Non-Solicits are okay
    • Non-Competes will not be considered
    • Ability to work independently, within a team environment, and a desire to find your long-term home
    • Comfort level with RFQs and the bid process, including onboarding of new accounts
