The Personal Care Aide / Medication Aide assists with patient care throughout nursing areas under the direction of licensed personnel.

Assists patient with activities of daily living (ADLs) and documents accordingly. Assists patient with feeding and / or meals as assigned and documents accordingly.

• Administers and accurately records the administration of medications for residents as prescribed by the physician. Determines and records effectiveness of medications.
• Monitors medications to ensure adequate accountability measures are taken when medications are ordered, received into the facility, administered, and at change of shift.

Stores medications in a safe and accurate manner.

Qualifications

Minimum Education

Preferred : High school diploma

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Required : PCA certificate of completion, VA State Medication Aide License

Required : First Aid (New hires have 30 days to obtain)

Required : CPR / AED Certification
