Top Litigation Executive oversees all litigation related to an organization and ensures maximum protection of the organization's legal rights. Acts as a liaison between outside attorneys and in-house staff. Being a Top Litigation Executive directs cases through litigation cycle, reviews new files for coverage and liability issues, and develops a cost effective defense strategy. Consults with senior management to resolve issues and decide settlements. Additionally, Top Litigation Executive requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Requires admittance to a state bar. Typically reports to top management. The Top Litigation Executive manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Top Litigation Executive typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. Our client has an immediate opening for a Litigation Paralegal in their Wilmington, Delaware office that will assist the firm’s national trial team.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Manage multiple complex litigation matters simultaneously.
- Assist with trial preparation and logistics, administrative/case management, client reporting, and client communication.
- Monitor case filings and provide detailed assessments to attorneys.
- Draft and prepare initial drafts of various pre-trial motions, dispositive motions, and other pleadings.
- Review and evaluate discovery documents including medical records, sales documents, employment records, and other case material.
- Compose case assessments and evaluations for review by associates and partners.
- Contemporaneous accounting and submission of personal billable time.
- 5 years’ general litigation experience is required.
- Asbestos litigation experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proficient interpersonal skills including effective communication with both attorneys and other paralegals to accomplish goals.
- The ability to both work both independently and as part of a larger team.
- Effective problem solving capabilities.
- Preference to mid-level candidates with experience using legal systems such as Westlaw, File & Serve Xpress, PACER.
