    About Center For Life Enrichment (CLE):

    Center For Life Enrichment (CLE) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving the Cashiers/Highlands communities by providing adults with educational and entertaining programs on a wide range of topics.

    Job Overview:

    CLE seeks a dynamic and visionary leader for the position of Executive Director who can inspire and guide a team towards achieving CLE’s mission and goals. This position reports directly to the President and to the CLE Board of Directors. The ideal candidate will be directly involved in budget formation and execution, shaping strategic initiative, overseeing day-to-day operations, and fostering key partnerships within the community. The Executive Director will play a pivotal role in strategic planning by collaborating with the board of directors to craft and execute the organization’s strategic vision. With a keen focus on details, integrity, and transparency, the chosen candidate will inspire an environment where members feel deeply connected to the impact of their contributions. This role is an invitation to join a spirited and innovative team, making a meaningful impact on the Highlands-Cashiers community through educational, inspiring and creative programs.

    Responsibilities & Duties:

    1.) Operations and Administration:

    • Oversee day to day operations, ensuring efficiency and a productive work environment
    • HR functions related to staff hiring/staff management
    • Manage insurance policies and organizational compliance
    • Maintain membership database and mailing list
    • Prepare contribution tax acknowledgement letters

    2.)Financial Management:

    • Oversee all financial aspects including bookkeeping, banking, budgeting, payroll and developing the annual budget
    • File Monthly and Quarterly State and Federal Payroll Taxes (941, NC-3 and NC-5)
    • File semi-annual NC E-585 Filing for NC Sales Tax Refund
    • Prepare financial reports for CPA for year-end 990 filings
    • Prepare, issue and file W-2, 1099 NEC
    • Prepare growth models
    • Grant tracking and reporting
    • Bank/investment account reconciliation, credit card reconciliation

    3.) Strategic Leadership:

    • Collaborate with CLE Board of Directors to develop and implement long-term strategies and growth models
    • Provide direction and leadership in line with CLE’s mission and vision
    • Represent the organization at community events to strengthen the organization's role with community members

    4.) Program Management:

    • Work closely with the Curriculum Committee to plan and implement CLE’s seasonal program series
    • Organize Curriculum Committee documents, progress and action items
    • Maintain program calendar and schedule presenters
    • Maintain list of program leads for Committee Review
    • Working closely with the Programs Director to create and coordinate non-academic programs
    • Board and Committee Collaboration:
    • Prepare and send documents for monthly Board Meeting
    • Provide regular reports on activities and financial status to the Board
    • Keep records of meeting materials, including reports and minutes

    5.) Event Planning:

    • Organize and oversee event committees
    • Maintain and update sponsorship database
    • Schedule and coordinate venues
    • Coordinate, hire and manage vendors

    Qualifications, Experience, & Skills:

    • 2 years of proven experience in an executive or managerial role
    • Strong knowledge of finance management: accounting principles, analyzing and interpreting financial reports
    • Experience managing databases and grant writing
    • Strong ability to develop strategies, growth models and organizational plans
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
    • Analytical mindset to identify risks and opportunities
    • Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with attention to detail
    • Event coordination and committee management
    • Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision making capabilities
    • Software proficiency requirements: Quickbooks, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint), Google Workspace, Mail Merge
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.
    • Ability to multitask and self-delegate.
    • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

    Other Qualifications:

    Applicants must be able to lift 20-30 lbs and load supplies over moderate distances for programs and events. Applicants must have a valid drivers license and pass a background check. Reliable transportation to/from Highlands, NC is required as housing is not provided, and some programs do require travel to off-site locations.
