Overview :

The Weber School Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation located in Weber County, Utah.  Our mission is to raise and provide funds to enhance educational goals and opportunities for students.

Job Description:

The Communications and Outreach Specialist is a new position with the Weber School District Foundation and the job description will grow and change with time and experience of the candidate.  The specialist will support the vision and mission Weber School Foundation through best practices in communication and outreach to community stakeholders, Weber School District employees, businesses and donors.  The specialist will work to share Weber School Foundations story by highlighting accomplishments, successes and providing recognition.  A new position in the organisation, the Specialist will have the opportunity to build and develop communication and outreach functions for Weber School Foundation. The Specialist will also work with the Executive Director and Development Director to develop outreach strategies for fundraising and marketing activities. This position reports directly to the Executive Director and has regular interaction with the Board of Directors and other community partners and donors.

Essential Job Functions:

• Develop and implement an integrated strategic communications plan to advance the Weber School Foundation’s brand identity; broaden awareness of its programs and priorities; and increase the visibility of its programs across key stakeholder audiences.
• Cover and report on accomplishments of the Weber School Foundation.  
• Prepare news releases, newsletters, the Weber School Foundation Annual Report and other general communications.
• Manage Weber School Foundations social media presence including but not limited to, the Weber School Foundation website, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
• Organize interviews, photograph events, projects, promotions, and highlights, write the associated story content and share on Weber School Foundation’s networking platforms. 
• Record and edit video as needed. 
• Facilitate live streaming of events.
• Work with staff and community partners to compile relevant information to be shared. 
• Promote positive community partnerships.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Attend an in person weekly team meeting, have the ability to work remotely, and flexibility to attend foundation events. 
• Produce monthly/quarterly emails to communicate with donors and sponsors.

Qualifications:

• One year experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field is required
• Innovative thinker, with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and output
• Exceptional written and verbal communications and organisational skills
• Creative and thoughtful on utilisation of new media technologies
• A minimum of one year experience in planning, writing, editing, and production of newsletters, press releases, annual reports, marketing literature, and other print publications and directories
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• Familiarity with website navigation and design elements
• Self-reliant, good problem solver, results oriented
• Ability to work collaboratively and as part of a dynamic team
• This position requires willingness to work a flexible schedule
