Reviews product design and build requirements to determine tooling concepts, design options, testing plans, and specifications. Being a Tool Design Engineer develops designs for fixtures, jigs, gauges, cutting and forming tools, carts, racks, and other items to support production. Utilizes Computer-Aided Design (CAD) to create accurate, complete, and concise design models and documentation to fabricate tools. Additionally, Tool Design Engineer estimates costs, resource requirements, and materials required for tools. May manage the sourcing, quoting, or procurement of purchased tools. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Tool Design Engineer work is closely managed.     Responsibilities - Aerospace Design Engineer:


    • Work jointly with ownership and staff
    • Work with clients to meet their requirements
    • First article and existing article quotation input
    • Ensuring manufacturability
    • Read and use internal common approach documentation and template files for best process on record
    • Receive and delegate tasks to/from Machinists and CNC staff tasks to meet the requirements of the tool
    • Help direct the build of the tooling to meet the customer's due date
    • Follow common safety procedures and good house keeping



    Requirements - Aerospace Design Engineer:


    • 3 - 5 years of experience as an aerospace design engineer
    • Proficiency in Siemens NX Unigraphics, SolidWorks, and/or Pro-E
    • 1 - 2 years' experience modeling/design for aerospace core/wax dies, jet engine blades/vanes and auxiliary parts/equipment
    • Good time management/organizational/communication skills to meet deadlines
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and accuracy
    • Ability to coordinate with others on multiple project designs
    • Ability to work independently and drive projects towards completion
    • Common computer experience outside of Modeling programs like Microsoft office products
