Technical Illustrator jobs in California
Technical Illustrator creates illustrations for use in technical manuals, product specifications, maintenance documents, advertisements, and other media. Utilizes a variety of graphic files, photo images, and sketches to create detailed technical illustrations. Being a Technical Illustrator produces 3-D, cutaway, or exploded views of objects. Familiar and proficient with graphic illustration and CAD software tools. Additionally, Technical Illustrator typically requires an associate degree in art, design, or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Technical Illustrator independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors. Has gained full proficiency in a broad range of activities related to the job. To be a Technical Illustrator typically requires 5-7 years of related experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

The primary responsibility of this position is the research, development, production, and revision of Service, Parts, and Operators manuals for all product lines including Crane, Freeman Hay Balers, Long Reach Forklift Attachments, Winch, Wagner Log Stackers and Chip Dozers. Additional responsibilities may include working on Service and Parts Bulletins.
Additional Responsibilities
- Develop parts lists and Master Check Sheets from engineering and/or vendor data.
- Consults with personnel from engineering, purchasing, final assembly, parts department, service department, marketing, and various vendors.
- Physcially checks machines/cranes and their component parts, makes notes and sketches and/or photographs as required.
- Obtains and maintains information in multiple databases.
- Creates pictorial and orthographic illustrations.
Software Skills
- Must have experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite applications, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Professional, Dreamweaver, etc is preferred, but not required.
- Experience with CAD software, including Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, etc is preferred, but not required.
- Must be skilled in technical writing, with an ability to create concise grammatically correct procedures.
Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and unassisted.
