Systems Engineering Director jobs in Colorado
Systems Engineering Director oversees the department responsible for the planning and engineering of an organization's systems infrastructure. Provides leadership to the team and ensures the requirements of the projects/contracts are met. Being a Systems Engineering Director ensures that hardware and/or software are designed and installed in a manner that meets the needs of the organization. Evaluates, designs and develops existing reports/documents for the performance of the systems. Additionally, Systems Engineering Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Systems Engineering Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Systems Engineering Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Job Description
Unison Systems is looking for a Director of Data Engineering for a client in the banking industry. This person will be responsible for building and maintaining our data lake, ingestion and consumption data pipelines / services and facilitating the movement of large data each day. Works directly with business teams and platform and engineering teams to ensure growth strategies for company.
This will be a full-time role in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Hybrid schedule.
Essential Functions
- Set the vision and strategy for data management and utilization.
- Oversee multiple Data Engineering teams.
- Drive innovation and adoption of new technologies in data engineering.
- Ensure data governance, compliance, and security standards are met.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree required
Work Experience-Basic Qualifications:
- 10 years of relevant experience in data engineering or a related field, required
- Prior Experience in leadership roles including experience managing direct reports, required
- Expertise in data architecture and optimization, required
- Leadership and strategic planning, required
- In-depth knowledge of data engineering technologies and trends, required (Data Lakehouse, Athena, Pipelines, Glue)
- Expertise in Cloud Data Engineering, required
- In-depth knowledge of cloud concepts, especially AWS, required
- In depth experience with data management
- Experience with Agile
- Visionary leadership, required
- Executive communication, required
- Business acumen and strategic thinking, required
- Expertise with AWS development environment and services
- Experience building self-service tooling and platforms
- Built and designed Data Mesh architecture platforms
- A passion for building and running continuous integration pipelines
- Contributed to open-source projects (Ex: Operators in Airflow)
