  • Provides leadership, quality improvement, and supervision for area of assignment; creates a strong student involved activities program that contributes to a vibrant College community and a learner centered environments for all students throughout the District; manages and plans student activities, clubs/organizations, and student leadership; and works with the student body to provide leadership opportunities for them to optimize their learning and experience a sense of belonging.
    • Develops student learning outcome assessment plan for the department including general education outcome assessment for Student Engagement efforts; directs, plans, assesses, implements, and improves programs for the District including Student Awards and Recognition, service and volunteer service learning programs, the student leadership program, emerging leaders program, and other signature events and activities that focus on the areas of general education outcomes, civic engagement, diversity, personal development, recreation, and service. 
    • Plans, creates, and maintains related budgets including the compiling of past expenditures and the estimating of future costs.
    • Develops and implements a comprehensive strategy for the engagement of post-traditional, and traditional students with the goal of increasing retention of stated populations using innovative and multimodal approaches.
    • Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates the success of student programming functions for multi-campuses including student clubs and activities, recreational sports, and activities; including aspects of the college’s e-sports program, student trips, outings, and activities; maintains records, ensures assessments are completed, compiles data, and prepares reports according to established procedures. Creates and disseminates a district level programming calendar in collaboration with all appropriate campus community groups.
    • Coordinates all student leadership clubs and organization activities at college district level; oversees budget allocations, creation of clubs, recruitment and training of club sponsors, selection of Student Government Association, Campus Activities Board, and National Society of Leadership & Success officers; coordinates staff at student leadership activities; and processes travel packets for all Club/Organization staff/student travel.
    • Coordinates Welcome Week activities and cultural celebration/DEI programming; facilitates the application/nomination process, advertising, and planning for ongoing leadership programming. Plans and collaborates on and is responsible for the annual Student Awards program including coordination with all academic and administrative departments and staff to ensure an outstanding program. Collaborates with athletics in the development and management of an Intramural Program; and oversees management and supervision of the Student Lounge spaces at each location.
    • Directly collaborates on the planning, logistics and implementation of the in person new student orientation program with the student development team. 
    • Seeks out, creates, and develops service learning and volunteer service opportunities within the college district communities. Is responsible for the recruitment and coordinator of student participation for those opportunities and assessment of the opportunity. 
    • Develops and employs the use of multiple methods of marketing and technology specific to connecting with students; promotes a welcoming and inclusive environment at all CAC locations; supervises publication of the Vaquero Vibe; uses social media and internal and external marketing strategies to increase student engagement and participation in activities; and directs the development and employment of web based and other technologies and the development of CAC’s sense of community for each CAC location.
    • Participates in committee assignments and in the recruitment and retention of students.
    • Performs other duties commensurate with functions and level of position or as assigned.
    EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s degree.
     
    EXPERIENCE:  Five (5) years of related experience.
     
    SPECIAL POSITION CONDITIONS:  None.

    Background Verification:  As a condition of employment, all candidates accepting an offer of employment for a full-time, part- time, temporary, student worker, or volunteer position, will be required to undergo a Background Verification.  Employment with Central Arizona College is contingent upon the successful completion of the background verification.  The level the background verification for this position is: Standard level.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    The employee is frequently required to apply 10 pounds of force to move objects and occasionally required to exert up to 20 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: crouching, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, talking, and shouting, visual acuity in data, and walking.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:  

    Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs. Job is performed in general office or comparable working area with occasional distractions such as noise and interruptions or in congested work areas with exposure to some disagreeable elements. Limited work in an outside environment required in order to implement and supervise selected activities. Travel throughout the District required. Night and weekend work required for support of Student Services activities.
