Statistician analyzes and interprets data from various sources. Forecasts trends using regression and other methods of statistical modeling. Being a Statistician works closely with other organizational groups to understand data and provide relevant, informative insights. Presents technical reports and findings to those groups. Additionally, Statistician uses knowledge of scripting and programming languages to clean, process, and analyze large data sets. Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Statistician work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Applies statistical and technical skills in the design of research studies. Collects and analyzes statistical data. Evaluate research studies and recommend statistical procedures. Performs statistical analyses for a broad spectrum of data and studies. Performs programming to update systems, services, and reports on existing production databases. Performs statistical programming, reviews databases, handles quality assurance, provides program verification, and supports verification of statistical results. Makes recommendations regarding equipment and software. The ideal candidate will have expertise in using SAS for data management and statistical analysis. Experience with R and/or Stata is a plus but is not required. Essential analytic skills include multiple least squares and logistic regression, survival analysis, and longitudinal data analysis. Experience in statistical genetics is also a plus but is not required.
