Staff Nurse - RN - Pediatrics jobs in Maryland
Staff Nurse - RN - Pediatrics provides professional nursing care to assigned pediatric patients. Records patient histories, performs various diagnostic tests, administers medications, and develops pediatric patient care plans in conjunction with other medical professionals. Being a Staff Nurse - RN - Pediatrics assists physicians during examinations and procedures, operating and monitoring medical equipment as necessary. Observes patients' progress and records observations in patient medical records. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Pediatrics promotes patients' independence by teaching patients and families to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires a valid state RN license. Responsibilities:
- Manage patient pain relief and sedation by providing pharmacological and non-pharmacological intervention, monitor patient response and record care plans accordingly.
- Work with EKG monitor technicians to evaluate and interpret EKG strips.
- Interpret laboratory results and cardiac tests, and proactively educate patients in health promotion and disease prevention.
- Initiate intravenously therapy, administer medications, provide care for post-operative open-heart patients and post cardiac catheter patients.
- Maintain responsibility for clinical activities of all nurses caring for patients assign, prepare annual evaluations on all nurses assign.
Certifications -
- AHA BLS - Basic Life Support Certificate (Required)
AHA ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certificate
AHA PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certificate
Education - Required
- Graduate of accredited Nursing program (BSN Preferred)
Experience - Required
