Staff Nurse - RN - Pediatrics provides professional nursing care to assigned pediatric patients. Records patient histories, performs various diagnostic tests, administers medications, and develops pediatric patient care plans in conjunction with other medical professionals. Being a Staff Nurse - RN - Pediatrics assists physicians during examinations and procedures, operating and monitoring medical equipment as necessary. Observes patients' progress and records observations in patient medical records. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Pediatrics promotes patients' independence by teaching patients and families to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires a valid state RN license. Job responsibilities include but not limited to:
-Room, triage, take vitals and present patient to provider
-Administer medications, provide vaccinations and render treatment as directed by provider
-Communicate with providers, and other medical professionals
-Collaborate with physicians to create and execute a Plan of Care for each patient
-Create and contribute to patients’ medical records as needed
-Respond to inquiries, concerns and complaints from patients and their parents or guardians
-Track and maintain medical supply inventory along with other staff members
-Counsel patients and family members before, during and after treatment
Qualifications and Skills:
-December 2023 grads, we would be willing to train while awaiting licensing
-We are looking for nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics, but would be willing to train the right person
-Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
-Valid New York State nursing license(recent graduates considered awaiting boards)
-Advanced knowledge of MEDENT EMR a plus
-Office is open Monday through Friday.
-Excellent interpersonal communication skills
-Ability to explain treatments and conditions to children of all ages
-Working knowledge of health care laws and regulations
