Speech and Language Pathologist jobs in New Mexico

Speech and Language Pathologist assesses and treats speech and language disorders and impairments. Conducts evaluations of an individual's speech and language skills using applicable diagnostic materials and tools. Being a Speech and Language Pathologist develops treatment plans that utilize appropriate intervention approaches, strategies, and materials. Establishes treatment priorities that include advising, educating, and counseling. Additionally, Speech and Language Pathologist completes required documentation to record assessment and progress. Collaborates with physicians, family members, and other clinical providers to provide effective therapies. May direct support staff in assisting with treatment. Requires a master's degree in speech pathology. Requires Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP). Requires State License based on Clinical Specialty. Typically reports to a manager. Speech and Language Pathologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     As a school-based speech-language pathologist, or school SLP, you'll help children and teens with speaking, swallowing, understanding and other speech-related skills needed for educational activities. Working in a public, private or charter school or other academic facility, you'll review students' individualized education programs (IEPs), develop and implement speech therapy treatment plans, recommend and provide equipment, monitor goal progress and more. You'll play a critical role in helping students thrive in school and beyond.

    Minimum Requirements

    • At least 1 year of recent experience as a speech language pathologist in a school setting
    • Degree in relevant field
    • BLS Certification (AHA)
    • Current state license
