Additionally, Sous Chef complies with all safety and food sanitation laws and regulations. Supervises, trains, and mentors staff. May require an associate degree in culinary arts or equivalent. Typically reports to an executive chef. The Sous Chef supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Sous Chef typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Responsibilities of the Sous Chef:

    • Assist the Executive Chef in menu planning, staff scheduling, and creating shopping lists
    • Prepare high-quality food items for all meals and buffet-style dinners
    • Handle the daily food operations and manage inventory and supplies
    • Ensure the food prepared meets health and safety regulations
    • Monitor and control usage of kitchen equipment and tools
    • Follow team recipes and adjust as necessary for seasonal variations
    • Manage kitchen staff, delegate tasks, and ensure adherence with safety regulations


    Sous Chef Requirements:

    • 2 years of management/chef experience
    • Proficient in ordering, inventory, scheduling, menu development
    • Available to work opening, mid, or closing shifts on a 5 day work week
    • The ability to teach, coach and motivate a staff of 25
    • Must have superior organization and time management skills
    • Have the ability to stay calm under pressure
    • Be proactive and not reactive to everyday situation
