Title:  Production Shift Supervisor

Department:  Operations

Reports to:  Production Manager

Summary

Spontaneously enters in to work light industrial warehousing location.  The locations are typically a fast paced and high stress environment that requires the teams to work together to meet the customers everchanging demand. 

Takes initiative to support and train ‘General Labor’ to perform various tasks to produce skids of containers to be delivered to the customer for packaging of manufactured parts.  Containers are assembled in ‘Just in Time’ to meet the customers ever changing production schedule.  Certifies that each container component is defect free and ready for assembly and use, as detailed in ‘Work Instructions’.

Is responsible for the performance of all teams on a shift.  Communicates and coordinates the work of multiple teams on a shift to fulfill customers’ requirements and orders.  Coordinates with transportation department to assure loads are fulfilled, loaded and delivered ‘On Time’.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Directs Team Leaders to achieve order fulfillment and customer demand.
2. Orchestrates Forklift Operators and General Labor activities to move incoming and outgoing materials with minimal handling and optimal tact time.
3. Assist in the development and initiates documented ‘Work Instructions’.
4. Trains and communicates ‘General Laborers’ with documented ‘Work Instructions’.
5. Assures that ‘General Laborers’ perform assigned task within each team to meet the customers’ requirements.
6. Provides recommendations, communicates information and assist in gathering data to develop ‘Continuous Improvement’, Production, Quality and Management initiatives.
7. Supports and primary interface with General Labor and teams to launch and implement ‘Continuous Improvement’, Production,  Quality and Management initiatives.
8. Promotes and maintains a desirable work environment for associates by coaching and developing interpersonal relationships amongst staff that is focused on the goals of the company and customer.
9. Inhibits and eliminates any negative interpersonal relationships amongst associates and teams that causes focus to be deterred from the demand and goals of the company and/or customer.
10. Verbally (compensatory when possible) rewards the action and activities of teams and associates that are in line with the goals of the company and customer.
11. Communicates and enforces the company’s policy and procedures with associates and teams.
12. Analyze, document and instructs ‘Associates and Teams’ with a ‘Job Safety Analysis.
13. Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
14. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
15. Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
16. Clearly understands the role of a ‘3rd Party Service’ in the manufacturing environment.

Skills and Specifications

1. Should be physically fit and have the ability to lift heavy materials.
2. Should have the ability to competently and effectively manage time and complete assigned work.
3. Should be a team player and have the ability to lead fellow workers.
4. Should be compliant with all safety regulation and the ability to use warehouse machinery.
5. Must be proficient handling and moving materials with a Fork Truck.  The Shift Supervisor should be the safest, most efficient and skilled Forklift Operator on a shift.

Education and Qualifications
-Leadership skills acquired through military service or a minimum of 1-year experience in a successful leadership vocation.
-High school degree, GED certification or an equivalent qualification from a certified college.
-Microsoft Office, Internet familiarity and ‘User Based’ knowledge of network set up/log in.
-A valid certification and license for operating warehouse machinery and other equipment.

Physical Requirements

-Must be able to repeatedly lift 30 lbs.
-Must be able to stand for four or more hours at a time.
-Must be able to bend, reach, and manipulate bulky objects.
