    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Pharmacist oversees day-to-day operations of the Pharmacy to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company polices and procedures. Works directly with patients, providers, and pharmacy staff to provide information and guidance to improve the overall well-being of our community. Will work approximately 45 hours per week and will occasionally be required to float between multiple pharmacy locations, all within a short distance of each other.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Reviews prescriptions to ensure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability. Provides information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.
    • Assesses the identity, strength, or purity of medications. Compounds and dispenses medications as prescribed by physicians by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, or overseeing these activities.
    • Maintains records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, narcotics, and controlled substances.
    • Plans, implements, and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals according to policy and legal requirements to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.
    • Provides immunizations including influenza, pneumococcal, and shingles vaccines, and diabetes education including how to use testing meters, insulin, and perform diabetic shoe fittings.
    • Collaborates with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of drugs and drug regimens, providing advice on drug applications and characteristics. Analyzes prescribing trends to monitor patient compliance and to prevent excessive usage or harmful interactions.
    • Orders and purchases pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies, and drugs, maintaining stock and storing and handling it properly.
    • Oversees the activities of pharmacy technicians and other personnel, maintaining their work schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
    • Collaborates with the Owner/Operator to conduct employee performance reviews, implement disciplinary citations, and assist with staffing/recruitment as needed.
    • Performs compliance audits as instructed by the Owner/Operator of the Pharmacy.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    • Strong patient service skills.
    • Excellent knowledge of chemistry and specific drug interactions.
    • Deep understanding of medical and biological terminology.
    • Superior attention to detail and ability to balance competing priorities.


    MINIMUM EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND TRAINING

    • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree .
    • Kentucky Board of Pharmacy license in good standing is required.
    • Tennessee Board of Pharmacy license in good standing is heavily favored.


    MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Supervises pharmacy operations, hiring and supervising staff, performing administrative duties, and buying or selling non-pharmaceutical merchandise.
    • Teaches pharmacy interns in preparation for their graduation or licensure.


    EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY

    • Must be authorized to work in the United States and provide verification of employment.
    • Active and valid driver’s license.
    • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
