Sheetmetal Mechanic sets up and operates machines such as drill presses, punch presses, saws, shears, bending rolls, brakes, grinders, and numerical control equipment to shape and alter sheetmetal according to specifications. Follows blueprints, rough sketches, or engineer drawings to shape metal accurately. Being a Sheetmetal Mechanic uses hand and power tools to shape, cut, and smooth metal and to blend seams. May set up and operate soldering and welding equipment. Additionally, Sheetmetal Mechanic typically requires a high school diploma. Typically requires a Sheetmetal Apprenticeship. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Sheetmetal Mechanic works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. - The Aircraft Mechanic II (Sheetmetal/Structures UH-60) maintains, modifies, and integrates the aircraft structure and its parts. Maintain, modify, and install the various components of aircraft sheet metal. Repair, rework, install and fabricate the complex aircraft structural assemblies, both internal and external. Lay out plans, fabrication, and installation models for modifications. Balance rotary-wing aircraft controls and apply primers/paints on aircraft surfaces. Fabricate structural parts using metal-forming techniques and fiberglass materials. Perform checks; carry out inspections and removal of components. Study technical manuals, blueprints, and engineering drawings. Provide assistance to aircraft technicians and mechanics on various tasks. Remove and disassemble defective parts of the aircraft. Perform final checks on assembly and installation of parts that were replaced. Maintain and keep track of all the maintenance records. Adhere to company policies and safety programs. Maintain the supplies and perform preventive maintenance. Minimum Requirements: High School Graduate or equivalent is required. Three (3) years aviation maintenance experience within the past Five (5) years on UH-60 (UH60 or 15T) MDS is Required. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for a facility credentials/authorization at the work location. Must have a current and valid US Passport. Travel: As required in support of task order. Knowledge & Skills Possess good communication skills; be adaptable, diversified, and capable of troubleshooting entire aircraft system. Working knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical, and associated systems principles to complete properly all probable work tasks. Knowledge of Quality Control, Production and Supply procedures required to perform job assignment. Able to determine when faulty systems or assemblies can be corrected through repair of replacement of new parts and the nature and extent of repair required. Must have skill in reading, applying, and interpreting technical data. Physical Requirements/Working Environment Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 pounds. Occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds. Must be immediately deployable to potential combat areas worldwide.
