Security Manager jobs in Florida
Security Manager implements security strategy, policies, and standards to ensure the physical safety of all visitors, employees, or customers to the organization's facilities and the security of property and assets. Conducts regular audits and inspections to assess, identify, and mitigate any security vulnerabilities or gaps. Being a Security Manager trains staff and establishes operational plans for crisis response, disaster recovery, evacuation, workplace violence, and other emergency events. Monitors and inspects systems, alarms, and other physical security measures. Additionally, Security Manager participates in education programs and contributes to communications on security policies and topics to ensure staff is adequately informed and equipped to manage potential security issues. Engages with local, state, provincial, or federal authorities to keep abreast with all security-related information, directives, and events. Initiates or assists with investigations and critical event responses in coordination with law enforcement and other officials or agencies. Understands law enforcement methods, tactics, and procedures. Requires a bachelor's degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, security, or related discipline. Typically reports to a director. The Security Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Security Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Overview:
A security officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for customers, employees, and visitors. They patrol and monitor premises to prevent theft, violence, or infractions of rules. They also respond to alarms and emergencies and report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities.Responsibilities:
- Patrol premises regularly to maintain order and establish presence
- Monitor and authorize entrance of vehicles or people in the property
- Detect and prevent theft, vandalism, or other illegal activity
- Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances
- Monitor and control access at building entrances and vehicle gates
- Escort individuals to specific locations or provide personal protection as needed
- Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences
- Call for assistance from police or fire departments in case of emergency
- Provide assistance to customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
Skills:
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills:- CPR and First Aid certification
- Experience in law enforcement or military is a plus
- Strong conflict management skills
- Knowledge of surveillance techniques
- Understanding of loss prevention strategies
Requirements:
The ideal candidate should possess the following requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid state security officer license
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, and to climb stairs or ladders as needed
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
