    The Department of Economic Security, Office of Inspector General (OIG) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Internal Affairs Administrator (Investigations Administrator). The Investigations Administrator) reports directly to the Deputy Inspector General for Investigations, providing comprehensive reports on the development, revision, enhancement, and implementation of guidelines, protocols, policies, and procedures associated with model programs and best practices. The incumbent manages all operations of Internal Affairs (IA), Child Care Investigations Unit (CCI), Rental Fraud Unit (RFU), Trafficking Detection Unit (TDU), Investigations Support Team (IST), and other investigations units as needed. This position analyzes and evaluates the most complex or complicated investigations, which may involve multiple DES programs and suspects, requires partnerships with external agencies, and coordinates special resources when advisable.

    This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona based upon the department's needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

    Job Duties

    Essential Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Manage all operations of IA, CCI, RFU, & TDU, IST. Conduct special studies and investigations as assigned by Department Executives. Coordinates partnerships between DES programs, with other OIG components and external agencies. Represent the Inspector General at meetings. Oversee and coordinate complicated investigations, which may be high-profile or involve multiple stakeholders.
    • Partner with Internal Audit Administration, Information Risk Management (IRM), and other entities to conduct detailed forensic analyses, including electronic discovery, data recovery, and data audits. Participate in inter-agency task force investigations, work groups and committees to build external partnerships and combine knowledge and resources to resolve investigations more efficiently.
    • Recommend and participate in the selection, placement, training, development, and performance management of qualified Unit personnel. Supervise the Investigative Support Unit. Ensure Unit Staff maintain required training certifications, as well as ongoing training in evolving methods of detecting crime and mitigating exposure and risk.
    • Provide guidance on complex principles and laws related to investigation, interview and interrogation, crime prevention, records management, evidence handling, and use of force, and law enforcement theory principles and practices. Assists in the development, revision, and implementation of guidelines, protocols, policies, and procedures associated with model programs and best practices.
    • Supervise managers which may include those leading unemployment investigations and child care administration investigations in support of the Department divisions.

    Selective Preference(s)

    The ideal candidate for this position will have:

    • Three (3) years of investigative law enforcement experience with a minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or management experience. Bachelors degree preferred.

Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
    • Because of the confidential, sensitive nature of information handled, successful completion of an Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS) background check is required prior to receiving a job offer. 28 CFR 20.21(f)(4)(i).
