Right of Way Manager jobs in Vermont

Right of Way Manager oversees the organization's operations and activities regarding the need for additional land or office space. Researches, negotiates and elects to purchase short- and long-term lease of land agreements and right of way for construction that meet the organization's goals. Being a Right of Way Manager oversees all land related legal issues, including transfers of titles and deeds, construction, mortgage concerns, and zoning. Makes resolutions and other legal forms related to land acquisitions. Additionally, Right of Way Manager may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Right of Way Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.     The Agency of Transportation (VTrans) is seeking a Right of Way Agent for a position within the Acquisition Unit of the Right of Way Section. Duties involve researching highway right-of-way, title research, valuing land, leases and licenses, and negotiating work for the acquisition of real property needed to construct or maintain transportation infrastructure. Work is performed in the office and in the field, including in-person meetings with property owners and research in Town Clerk's Offices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a requirement. Knowledge of reading highway plans, land record research, Microsoft products, and OnBase helpful.

    The main offices are located in Barre City, and the position may be eligible for telework, though it is not a fully remote position.

    Environmental Factors

    Work is performed in both a standard office setting and in the field involving significant interaction with property owners and local officials. Assignments will require travel throughout the State for which private means of transportation is required. Some evening and overtime work is required.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Two (2) years or more of full-time college coursework or associates degree in engineering, highway technology, architecture, surveying, public relations, legal studies or real estate AND two (2) years or more of experience in real estate, property management, property administration, or transportation engineering.

    OR

    High School diploma or equivalent AND three (3) or more years of experience in real estate, property management, property administration, or transportation engineering.

    OR

    One (1) year or more of experience as a Right of Way Agent I

    Special Requirements

    A valid driver's license is required.
