Revenue Accountant jobs in Virginia

My client is a growing global software firm looking for a revenue accountant to join its team. This is not a billing role. It requires experience reviewing contracts and applying knowledge of ASC606 in order to maximize revenue recognition within the boundaries of US GAAP. The right candidate will need to have good communication skills to interact across multiple divisions of the organization. This position is open due to growth. This position comes with a compensation package that has discretionary bonus potential and full benefits (PTO, medical, dental, vision, 401K).

This role is hybrid and requires living in the DC metro area. It will require coming in to the office twice per week.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage the company’s revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP standards.
• Develop, document, and enforce robust accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Prepare comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages.
• Audit and monitor commission calculations.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls, SOX regulations, and established accounting policies.

Requirements:

• At least 2 years of accounting experience.
• Experience with ASC 606.
• Software industry accounting exposure through public accounting (audit/outsourced) or corporate accounting. A candidate coming out of tax that does tax provision work for software clients might make sense.
• Big 4 experience highly preferred.
• CPA or parts passed highly preferred.
