Beartooth Resource Conservation & Development Area, Inc.
Beartooth RC&D Area, Inc. is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization assisting the clients in Carbon, Stillwater, Sweet Grass, Big Horn, and Yellowstone counties. The organization receives funding from federal, state, and local governments, and administers multiple grant programs and loan programs for small businesses.
Specific responsibilities:
The Economic Development Director is responsible for facilitating small business and community projects that contribute to successful business operations and vibrant communities. This position will become knowledgeable in and administer federal and state grants.
Main position responsibilities:
· Economic development project planning, management, outreach and research related to CRDC (Certified Regional Development Corporation), EDA (Economic Development Administration), and EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) Brownfields programs
· Grant writing
· Administrative, recordkeeping, project budget management and compliance
· Administrative support related to activities of Beartooth RC&D
· Excellent writing, research and project management skills
· Demonstrated competency in persuasive writing, team collaboration, effective verbal and written communication, and attention to detail
· Able to develop working knowledge of State, Federal and private grant/loan programs
· Experience with community planning
· Competency in development and tracking of project budgets and financial management
· Comfort with public speaking and group facilitation
· Skilled in coordinating projects, meeting deadlines, and working independently
This position requires the ability to prepare written reports to funding partners and present summaries of collaboration and leveraging efforts to project committees. The position is responsible for preparing quarterly and annual reports to funding partners.
· Some travel is required within the 5-county Beartooth region. Occasional travel outside the region, including overnight travel to attend meetings, workshops and training seminars, may be required.
· Flexible work schedule after 6-month probationary period, with occasional evening hours.
· Position requires the ability to communicate with the public, co‐workers, and stakeholder groups on a regular basis.
· May need to sit at a desk, at meetings, and in vehicles for long periods of time.
· Must be able to stand and walk short distances, stoop and bend, handle and lift books, papers, and office equipment up to 50 pounds.
· Maintain a valid Montana driver’s license. Company car available for travel and some use of a personal vehicle may be required with appropriate mileage reimbursement.
OTHER INFORMATION:
· This position reports directly to the Executive Director
· Minimum Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or combination of education and experience
· Experience a plus but not required
· This is a full‐time Salary position ($46,000-$54,000) DOE with a full benefit package including health insurance stipend and contribution to IRA retirement plan, paid holidays and sick leave, and flexible office hours.
