Title: Religious Education Teacher/Childcare

Reports to: Director of Childrens Religious Education

Hours and schedule: Part Time/3-5 hours per week, including Sunday morning

Summary Description:

Collaborates with a team of staff and volunteers to plan and implement weekly lessons for children and youth as part of a vibrant and experiential liberal religious institution, and provides childcare for other services and events affiliated with Hope Unitarian Church.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for implementing the age-appropriate curriculum.
• Provide a safe and welcoming environment for children and families.
• Setting up and cleaning up the space every week and for special events.
• Coordinates with volunteers and paid staff.
• Collaborate with the director and other teachers
• Responsible for snack time
• Must be flexible about working with multiple ages and stages, both indoors and outdoors.
• Occasional availability to provide vibrant childcare for other events i.e., memorial services, concerts, and other church events, some of which may take place in the evening.

Qualifications:

• At least 21 years old (negotiable if college student)
• Comfortable with liberal religious philosophy
• Education work experience, or currently studying education in college
• Demonstrates interpersonal skills
• Works both independently and collaboratively
• Must pass a background check

Experience:

• Direct experience working with children
• Experience in an educational setting

Education:

• Some college
• Equivalent experience in a related field

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $14.86 per hour

Expected hours: 3 – 5 per week

Work Location: In person
