    Job Description




    This position establishes, administers, and evaluates the Retention and Disposal of Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) electronic and hard-copy records performing audits of confidential records in accordance with approved retention schedules, developing policy materials, evaluating organizational and operational needs and making recommendations. This position serves as Subject Matter Expert in records retention and disposal, designs and implements methods for review, evaluation and analysis, provides consultation and guidance to agency staff. This position assists with maintaining the electronic document management system to receive, file, archive and preserve records, reviews highly confidential documents and drafts responses to Freedom of Information (FOIA) requests and Jurisdiction Requests for Information in conjunction with the FOIA Coordinator. This position also conducts training and informational sessions supporting the Records Section departmental technicians in the agency’s electronic document management system.

    This position offers one remote day per week after successful completion of an initial probationary period.

    The Michigan Gaming Control Board may consider alternative and remote work schedule requests based on the operational needs of the work area. MGCB’s main office is located at 3062 West Grand Boulevard, Detroit, MI, however, MGCB has a satellite office in Lansing and offices located in Greektown Casino, MGM Grand – Detroit, and MotorCity Casino. Not all MGCB positions have the capability to work remotely due to the nature of the position. For positions approved to work remotely, MGCB requires a minimum of two in-office days each week. Periodic onsite teamwork, collaboration, and communication with peers and leaders is required for all positions and is essential to the position's success and MGCB’s mission and values. Selected candidates approved to work remotely, or a hybrid schedule (combination of remote and in-office), must complete that work within Michigan. Remote work will be determined by management and is not an entitlement. Employees will be provided computers and other essential items necessary to perform state work. Employees working remotely will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:

    A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
    A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
    Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.

    Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.

    Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.

    The Board also conducts a personal reference screening, criminal background check, drug testing and federal and state tax transcript, including fingerprinting candidates prior to a conditional offer of employment. A reference check from your current or most recent supervisor is required, please include this information on your application.

    Civil Service Rule 2-7 requires that all persons who are not currently state employees submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test which must be administered within 24 hours of a conditional offer or the offer may be rescinded. It is considered a refusal to test if an applicant fails to provide a sufficient sample within the allotted time. In accordance with Civil Service Regulation 2.07, an individual may be sanctioned from applying to State of Michigan vacancies, permanently or up to (3) three years, should you fail to pass/submit to the pre-employment drug test. Under Civil Service Regulation 3.06, you may be sanctioned from applying to positions with the State of Michigan, if you make any false statements or omissions of a material fact during the selection process.

    Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

    Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

    Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
