Permitting and Regulatory Affairs Specialist

  • The Permitting and Regulatory Affairs Specialist is responsible for obtaining and maintaining necessary permits and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role involves close coordination with internal teams and external agencies to support the company’s operations and projects. The successful candidate will act as the point of contact for all permitting and regulatory matters.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Coordinate, prepare, and submit all necessary applications to secure environmental, regulatory, and operational permits from appropriate agencies within the state of Wyoming, federal agencies, and other permitting and regulatory agencies. (DEQ, EPA, BLM, WYODOT, WGFD, USFWS etc.)

    Monitor regulatory changes and ensure that company practices adhere to the latest standards and laws.

    Maintain accurate records of all permitting activities and regulatory correspondence.

    Act as the primary contact for regulatory agencies, building strong relationships and ensuring timely communication.

    Evaluate potential regulatory risks to the company and propose mitigation strategies.

    Educate staff on regulatory requirements and the importance of compliance.

    Ensure vendors receive appropriate site-specific training prior to accessing restricted sites.

    Inspection of Large Construction General Permits (LCGP) and Mineral Mining General Permits (MMGP) and maintenance of SWPPP amendments/updates, reporting of DMRs and annual reports.

    Coordinating and addressing non-compliance/NOV’s to ensure resolution and compliance. Work with various agencies to obtain and maintain Bonds or other necessary insurance policies.

    Coordinate with consultants and vendors for a wide variety of company projects/needs.

    Onsite waterfowl management, permitting, and reporting. Weed management and reclamation oversight and soil assessment/salvage. Spill response, cleanup, and reporting to ensure compliance with all agencies.

    Attendance at public or private hearings and meetings is required whether in person or through virtual platforms.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    · Bachelor's degree in environmental science or a related field.

    · Two (2) years of related permitting and regulatory experience.

    · Basic knowledge of greenfield/well-refining process.

    · Knowledge and experience in federal and state regulatory processes.

    · Nights and weekends may be required to meet deadlines.

    · Work will require tasks to be completed indoors and outdoors. Exposed to weather conditions.

    · Self-starter who can work independently and efficiently on projects and deliver key measurables and meet deadlines.

    · The ability to create presentations and present in a group or forum setting.

    Work Environment and Physical Demands

    · The majority of time will be spent in an office setting with the need to work outdoors.

    · Work may involve occasional exposure to dust, dirt, pollen, heavy equipment exhaust, and other particles typical of a construction site.

    · Exposure to inclement weather and temperatures.

    · Must possess sufficient mobility with or without assistive devices to access all-natural features and geographic areas for inspection and remediation with state, and federal requirements.

    · Must be able to descend and ascend from ground level to inspect soil and geological site features.
