Recreational Therapist jobs in North Carolina
Recreational Therapist plans and directs medically approved therapeutic recreational programs for patients. Organizes activities according to patients' capabilities, needs, and interests. Being a Recreational Therapist conducts programs including symptom management, basic conversation skills, community re-entry, sports, gardening, dramatics, music, social activities, and arts and crafts. Prepares reports for patients' physicians describing individual patient symptoms and reactions to therapeutic programs. Additionally, Recreational Therapist conducts activity therapy assessment of a patient's strengths and needs, and recommends therapeutic activity. Documents progress on each patient. Requires a license/certification to practice from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Requires to practice from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Recreational Therapist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. What Will You Do?
The Recreational Therapist’s primary purpose is to provide engaging activities, programs, events, and other experiences that create a therapeutic environment for the youth in their care.- Lead efforts in coordinating events, activities, developing an active and engaged program schedule for all clients in care
- Facilitate individual and group activities that provide education, engagement, emotional, physical, spiritual development, and fun
- Support the milieu in behavioral management and pro-active crisis management
- Communicate internally and externally as to the needs and best practices related to the treatment of individual clients
What qualifications do you need?- Must have a valid Driver License and meet any credentialing, licensing, and privileging standards as it pertains to the department you are in.
- Education requirement for this individual contributor role is: Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite application software,
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Certified or licensed to practice RT in North Carolina.
