Recreation Coordinator (Intramurals) jobs in Alabama

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma/GED required. College degree in recreation management or a related field preferred. Must have at least three years of experience in planning, development, and/or coordination of community-sized events. Three years of experience in administration preferred.  Must possess a valid driver’s license.  Must meet Park Board employment and physical standards, which includes a background check as well as drug and alcohol screening. Experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and aptitude to perform the defined duties.   

MISSION STATEMENT:

Cullman Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourism is dedicated to improving quality of life through exceptional parks, facilities, events, and recreational opportunities for all.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Working with the Director of Special Events, creates, develops, and coordinates all aspects of special event planning and execution.
• Assists with creation and management of budget for special events.
• Coordinates vendor application posting, opening, and closing and assists with vendor application review and consideration.
• Recruits and facilitates training for event staff, including site team, security, custodial, etc.
• Recruits, schedules, and coordinates with special events talent and performers.
• Coordinates with event vendors, ensuring timely and efficient communication, arrival, set-up and breakdown.
• Communicates with department supervisors and City of Cullman department heads on needs for special events.
• Purchases supplies and inventory and facilitates equipment rentals, as needed, for special events.
• Assists, as needed, with programs in areas such as set-up/breakdown, program surveys, staff evaluation, purchasing supplies, overseeing programs staff/volunteers, etc.
• Serves as the CPRST sponsor for Cullman Community Theatre, assisting with CCT events, meeting with CCT committee, and coordinating the CCT program as a whole.
• Assists, as needed, with Therapeutic Recreation and Camp Cullman programs, providing program support in needed areas.
• Keeps a positive and energetic attitude with patrons/attendees during special events and/or programs.
• Reports any issues or incidents to the Director of Special Events and/or the Programs Coordinator.
• Maintains professional internal and external relationships in keeping with CPRST core values.
• Work hours may vary, which will include nights, weekends, and some holidays, with hours varying based on time of year, events, and projects.
• Acts as a team member with other Parks and Recreation staff, embracing and supporting the vision and mission of the CPRST Board of Directors and the City of Cullman.
• Exhibits a high level of professionalism and ethics, working amicably with the Park Board, the Executive Director, Administrators, Personnel, and Community.
• Exhibits proficiency in written and oral communication.
• Attends all meetings as required by supervisors.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.
  

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in various settings that could include indoor or outdoor environments where there is a potential for exposure to various weather conditions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to occasionally lift up to forty pounds as well as sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.  Work may also require occasional to frequent working around heights, climbing, crawling, crouching, bending, and stooping. Work also requires the ability to use moving equipment.
