Rating Specialist is responsible for calculating insurance premiums based on rate books, calculators, and the type and amount of policy. Revises rates as necessary and maintains records and appropriate filings. Being a Rating Specialist requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Rating Specialist works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Rating Analyst I

  • The Rating Analyst is primarily responsible for preparing quotes based on census and group information from agents and/or their clients. This information is obtained via phone, fax, email and the Warner Pacific website. This job requires not only a working knowledge of the Warner Pacific proprietary quoting engine and certain carrier/vendor quoting systems, but also the guidelines for each carrier with regard to products, product availability and offering criteria.

    Overview of Responsibilities

    • Ability to process approximately 300 quote requests per month under moderate supervision.
    • Receive RFQ information and prepare quotes for agents and/or their clients via the Warner Pacific quoting system in an accurate manner and within the company standard of 24 hours or less.
    • Notify supervisor immediately when quote requests are pending outside the 24-hour standard.
    • Demonstrate competency in running quotes on alternate (carrier and/or vendor) quoting systems, as determined by carrier protocol or business need.
    • Provide carrier/plan consultative services to customers, as needed, to ensure that quotes are run and/or modified according to customer specifications.
    • Notify supervisor and Warner Pacific IT Dept. immediately when quoting system malfunctions occur so that corrections can be made in a timely manner.
    • Make note of potential enhancements and communicate to supervisor for consideration.
    • Assist agents who have questions while running their own quotes on the Warner Pacific website.
    • Assist with other tasks related to business retention during times of low quote volume.

    Additional Skills and Requirements

    • Minimum of a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
    • Ability to work overtime, holidays and weekends as requested by senior management.
    • Ability to prioritize work effectively.
    • Ability to perform data entry, answer phone and monitor email and fax simultaneously.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to work assigned schedule at the assigned work location.
    • Computer literacy with proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and emphasis on beginning-intermediate Excel.
    • Ability to type a minimum of 30 WPM.
    • Ability to sit for long periods of time, lift a minimum of 5 pounds, file, stand, bend, reach, pull.

    Compensation

    • Hourly Range*: $22.39 - $29.86 per hour
    • Actual compensation may vary from posting based on work experience, education and/or skill level.
