AAA 106.1 The Corner Needs A DJ Who’s A Real Person And Loves Music
We’re looking for either a veteran radio DJ who hasn’t forgotten how to be a real person on the air, or else an up-and-comer who hasn’t yet been made to unlearn that. 106.1 The Corner is all about being in love with music and being real. And you’ll be replacing a person who was well liked on the air and in the community. We’re part of the Charlottesville (VA) Radio Group, a radio cluster in a college town that punches way above its weight where live music is concerned. The Corner is the station for music lovers in a town full of them.
What We’re Looking For:
· An authentic radio presence – curious, funny, compassionate, interesting. The Corner’s audience is diverse and passionate, and we need someone who can connect with them.
· A love for the AAA format – you don’t have to know everything about every band, but you should know something about a lot of bands.
· Comfort with social media – more than how to post an image to Facebook, we want people who are truly comfortable on social media and know how to reach listeners and bands in creative ways.
· Audio editing skills – you’ll be asked to produce promos and ads and more.
· A willingness to listen and to take new ideas on board, while also knowing that your ideas will be heard and valued.
· At least three years of on-air experience at a music station, preferably AAA. You’ll also be tracking middays on our classic rock station, so that knowledge is a plus. (That said, if you have less experience than that but you think you can do the job, we’re willing to consider you.)
Additional Duties: Depending on your experience, additional responsibilities may include:
· Coordinating and hosting live events and concerts
. Collaborating with local artists and venues to foster community connections
· Assisting in the development and execution of marketing strategies
How to Apply: This is a full-time position with a company that offers top-shelf benefits (insurance, vacation, 401K options). Send us your resume, cover letter, and on-air demo to pmcdaniel@charlottesvilleradiogroup.com. Please put "I Am The Corner" in the subject line.
