  • We are recruiting for an Assistant Director of Special Education/Federal Program Director to serve the Goldendale and Centerville School Districts. This position is full time, 215 days. General Responsibilities:Reporting directly to the Specialized Services Birth to 21 Executive Director and the district Superintendent, the Assistant Director of Special Education/Federal Programs Director provides educational leadership and direction for school district special education programs, and facilitates, coordinates and provides fiscal management for federal and state grant programs. The programs include, but are not limited to Title I, Migrant, and LAP. The Assistant Director of Special Education/Federal Programs Director supervises all aspects of these programs and leads the development and revisions of district implementation related to federal programs. In collaboration with district administrative team, the Assistant Director of Special Education/Federal Programs Director develops, coordinates, and implements program grants to support the system.Salary:The full range for this position is $107,939.26 - $131,324.64. Offers are made at the entry level of the range. Essential Functions/Other FunctionsEssential Functions:When serving as Assistant Director of Special Education:
    • Use data, research and best practices to design and lead special education programs and services that provide special education students with a free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment.
    • Coordinate programs and services to identify, assess, place and serve eligible students special education services and ensure student progress.
    • Assign, supervise, evaluate and develop special education staff to support the educational needs of special education students.
    • Build and maintain productive relationships and strong partnerships with families, school district staff, community agencies; and local, state and federal government entities.
    • Manage the day-to-day special education program operations for the Special Education ESA member districts to maximize resources and assure a safe, efficient and effective learning environment for students and staff.
    • Assure compliance with all federal, state, agency and school district laws, rules, regulations and procedures that govern students with disabilities.
    When serving as Federal Programs Director:
    • Collaborate with the district administrative team to develop and implement a coordinated program that meets the needs of all students.
    • Prepare and submit annual iGrants and manages the fiscal and reporting requirements associated with the grants.
    • Support district staff in developing a deeper understanding of students' educational needs and best practices to support their learning needs.
    • Plans and implements training to meet program guidelines.
    • Acts as District liaison to the State and Federal Program contacts.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to maintain high levels of expertise with research-based best practices for serving the students qualifying for supplemental services.
    • Promote positive, collaborative communication and feedback loop with parents and community patrons.
    • Work as partners with each building administrator and the building Leadership Team to support and develop long term program development.
    Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & SkillsMinimum Qualifications:
    • Hold or eligible to hold a Washington administrative credential.
    • Hold or eligible to hold a valid Washington teaching certificate or ESA certification.
    • Masters degree.
    • Three years teaching or other certificated experience (e.g., school psychologist, speech pathologist, physical therapist).
    • Administrative experience serving special education populations.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • One year of educational leadership experience that includes employee supervision and evaluation.
    • Experience designing curriculum and instructional strategies for special education populations.
    • Experience delivering professional development to teachers and support staff.
    Working Conditions/Employment RequirementsWorking Conditions:
    • School building work setting, office environment and classroom setting.>
    • Travel to assigned districts in ESD 112 Special Education ESA service region.
    Employment Requirements:
    • Successful completion of a criminal history fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
