General Job Description:

• Compiles and maintains medical records of patients of the health care delivery system to document patient condition and treatment for medical and dental providers.
• Provides support for overall medical and dental operation. Serves as back-up to Receptionist.

Education and Experience Required:

• Ability to speak English and Spanish.
• Ability to use a computer and Medical Manager.
• Ability to use CPT and ICD-9 coding system.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Ability to use a PBX telephone system.
• Strong verbal communication skills.
• Ability to type and file.
• Ability to work quickly, accurately and efficiently.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with staff and patients.
• Maintains appropriate confidentiality.
• Ability to work after 5:00 PM.

Essential Job Functions:

• Maintains records/charts for the medical and dental providers, using heal record indexes and storage and retrieval systems.
• Operates a computer to process, store and retrieve health information.
• Review medical records for completeness.
• Assemble the records/charts for future use of both medical and dental functions.
• File medical and dental records/charts accordingly.
• Pull charts/records for incoming medical reports, distribute the chart to the provider to review, when the chart and report is returned than place report in the proper index, and file the chart.
• Reproduce medical records as required.
• Uses codes for clinical data such as diseases, procedures, and therapies using standard classification system.
• Types and files correspondence for medical and dental records.
• Transcribes dictation for medical providers, as required.
• Answer incoming phone calls.
• Supports EEO and QI policies and established standards of Ben Archer Health Center.
• Works in a culturally sensitive and safe manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
