    Description

    The Major Gift and Planned Giving Officer meets with donors and prospects to qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward planned and major gifts, working as part of a collaborative team across The College.
     

    The position will personally engage and solicit donors and prospects through meaningful in-person, virtual, phone, and email contacts with a goal of increasing membership in The College’s President’s Circle.  The position will work in partnership with the Alumni Relations Manager and Assistant Vice President, Advancement Operations to improve constituent records, data integrity, and reporting.  The position will play an integral part in planning, launching, and the success of an upcoming capital campaign in partnership with both internal partners and an external contractor. The position supports the Centers of Excellence in fundraising, events, and stewardship.

     

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

     

    Major Giving

    • Manage a portfolio of 100-125 annual and major giving donors and prospects with the goal of initiating a first gift, upgrading annual gifts, and soliciting major gifts.
    • Collaborate with Advancement and Alumni Relations colleagues and volunteers to achieve unrestricted and Center dollar goals.
    • Adhere to the best practices of moves management and The College’s Gift Acceptance Policy.
    • Serve as an active prospect identifier, identifying donors for personal visits, and qualifying annual donors for the major gift pipeline.
    • Establish annual performance and financial goals for major giving in collaboration with the front-line Advancement team and consistent with The College’s strategic priorities and fundraising goals.

     

    Planned and Estate Giving

    • Manage the planned giving platform, Crescendo, including the design and delivery of a monthly eNewsletter for our Planned Giving donors, and an annual survey to key constituents.  Manage the planned giving website.
    • Serve as the Planned Giving point of contact for realized estate gifts, charitable gift annuities serviced through PGCalc, and ongoing planned gifts.
    • Identify opportunities for estate gifts and work with donors and prospects in documenting their legacy gifts to The College.
    • Establish annual performance and financial goals for planned and estate giving in collaboration with the front-line Advancement team and consistent with The College’s strategic priorities and fundraising goals.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Planning and leading your major giving program.
    • Researching major gift donor prospects.
    • Identify and actively solicit and manage a portfolio of prospects, including developing and implementing internal strategies and external meetings, and collaborating with internal stakeholders.
    • Growing relationships with major gift donors. Drafting major gift proposal documents in partnership with Legal Counsel
    • Developing a donor solicitation strategy for major gift prospects.
    • Designing and operating a donor stewardship program in coordination with the Director of Advancement Communications and Advancement Associate - Stewardship.
    • Tracking and assessing major gift fundraising metrics in partnership with Assistant Vice President, Advancement Operations.
    • Working collaboratively with The College’s various councils and volunteers on fundraising.
    • Develop and maintain excellent collaborative relationships with College faculty and staff, including Center leadership teams, and subject matter experts to better understand the needs and impact of The College. 

    Qualifications


    • Bachelor’s degree required, and a minimum of four years of progressive major gift fundraising experience with a proven ability to engage individuals and secure commitments at the five- and six-figure levels.
    • Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy designation preferred.
    • Proven successful experience in fundraising, inclusive of direct interactions with donors.
    • Strong project management skills.
    • Ability to evaluate, interpret, and present complex information effectively in professionally prepared documents or presentations.  Must have a demonstrated attention to detail to achieve high accuracy.
    • Experience working with administration and faculty.
    • Experience working with vendors and consultants.
    • Knowledge of and interest in financial services and philanthropy.
    • A passion for serving the needs of underserved communities, economic justice, closing the racial and gender wealth gap, and the power of philanthropy to change the world.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
    • Comfortable working in a team environment, but also must be disciplined to work independently.
    • Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office Suite, with a proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Zoom
    • Ability to track contacts and moves in a database.  Raiser’s Edge experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of general office equipment, including use of laptop computers required.

    Salary Grade Minimum: $78,800.00

    The starting base salary is determined based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, education, internal equity, departmental budgets, qualifications, licenses, specialty, and training.
