Physician - Gastroenterology examines and diagnoses disorders and diseases of the digestive system. Consults with patients to determine the appropriate course of treatment. Being a Physician - Gastroenterology recommends and orders tests to determine extent of illness or help diagnose condition. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Additionally, Physician - Gastroenterology requires a valid state license to practice. May report to a medical director. The Gastroenterology Physician will provide complete clinical care for all patients under the direction of the Medical Director and by written protocols. Gastroenterology Physician works in conjunction with the Medical Director in implementing and maintaining quality care programs.
Gastroenterologist - diagnose and treat injuries or illnesses that impact the small intestine, pancreas, bile ducts, liver, colon and rectum, gallbladder, stomach, and esophagus. Examine patients; take medical histories; prescribe medications; and order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests. Counsel patients on diet, hygiene, and preventive healthcare. Endoscopic procedures may be conducted, which may include the extraction of tumors without surgery.

· Document and update charts and patient information to show findings and treatments
· Order tests and consultations for other physicians or healthcare staff to perform
· Review test results to identify abnormal findings
· Recommend, design, and implement a long-term treatment plan
· Address concerns or answer questions that patients have about their health and well-being
· Help patients take care of their health by discussing topics such as proper nutrition and hygiene
· Management of services in accordance with established Clinic’s policies/procedures and contracted service under CHDP, Managed Medical Care and other medical programs and guidelines
