Physician Assistants work 8 hour shifts alongside board certified emergency medicine physicians in a collaborative atmosphere. EPR Physician Assistants are responsible for the spectrum of evaluation and management of emergency department patients. Duties include history taking, physical examination, ordering and interpreting diagnostic and therapeutic studies, ordering medications, developing and implementing treatment plans, monitoring response and effectiveness of interventions, and making appropriate referrals as needed. PAs perform therapeutic procedures and are responsible for appropriate and effective communication with ED physicians, emergency department staff, ancillary staff, consulting physicians, patients, and their family members.
