Pharmacist - Retail reviews prescriptions and compounds and dispenses prescribed drugs according to regulatory requirements and guidelines in a retail environment. Responds to customers questions about medications and advises about drug safety and potential interactions. Being a Pharmacist - Retail manages the transfer of prescriptions, incoming physician calls, and drug utilization review. Ensures that pharmacy's patient and financial records are correctly input and maintained. Additionally, Pharmacist - Retail requires a doctorate degree in pharmacy (Pharm.D.). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires registered pharmacist(RPh). Requires pharmacy practice. Pharmacist - Retail's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Job Duties:- Dispensing prescription medications and ensuring that patients receive the correct dosage and instructions for use.
- Providing expert advice and guidance to patients and healthcare providers on medications, drug interactions, side effects, and potential drug allergies.
- Reviewing and verifying prescription orders for accuracy and completeness, and ensuring that they meet legal and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, including physicians and nurses, to ensure optimal patient care.
- Managing inventory and ordering medications and supplies as needed.
- Ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local pharmacy laws, regulations, and policies.
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Active pharmacy license in the state.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, medication therapy management, and patient care.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with patients, healthcare providers, and other team members.
- Proficient in pharmacy computer systems and technology.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- $120k-150k per year based on experience and qualifications.
