Optician measures and fits contact lenses and eyeglass frames based on prescriptions written by ophthalmologists or optometrists. Takes precision measurements of eyes using a pupilometer and other devices to ensure proper fit of eyeglasses or contact lenses. Being an Optician assists and advises customers in selecting frames based on their prescription, lifestyle needs, and style preferences. Inspects lenses for quality, fits and adjusts eyewear, and repairs eyewear as needed. Additionally, Optician instructs customer on correct eyeglasses and contact lens care and maintenance. May process work orders and sales. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Applicable License. Requires Licensed Optician. Typically reports to a manager. Job Description
As an Optician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring customers receive the highest level of care and leave with eyewear that not only enhances their vision but also complements their personal style.
Key Responsibilities- Customer Service Excellence:
- Greet and assist customers with enthusiasm and professionalism.
- Conduct thorough and attentive consultations to understand customers' visual needs and style preferences.
- Provide expert advice on lens options, frame styles, and lens enhancements.
- Address customer inquiries and concerns with a friendly and solutions-oriented approach.
- Eyewear Dispensing:
- Accurately measure and fit eyeglasses, ensuring optimal comfort and vision for customers.
- Educate customers on proper eyewear care and maintenance.
- Collaborate with the optical team to maintain an organized and aesthetically pleasing eyewear display.
- Prescription Verification:
- Verify and interpret eyeglass prescriptions to assist customers in selecting appropriate lenses.
- Work closely with the optical lab to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of orders.
- Administrative Tasks:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records.
- Process eyewear orders, including tracking and managing inventory.
- Assist in scheduling appointments and managing walk-in traffic.
- Minimum of 6 months of experience in an optical setting.
- Strong understanding of eyewear products, lens options, and frame styles.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on providing exceptional customer service.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
