Oil and Gas Field Supervisor supervises field staff that maintains and services oil and gas production facilities. Oversees testing and monitoring of wells, pumps, storage facilities and other equipment. Being an Oil and Gas Field Supervisor is responsible for safety of staff and production facilities. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Oil and Gas Field Supervisor typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Oil and Gas Field Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be an Oil and Gas Field Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes. Here's What You'll Do On The Job- Performs numerous chemical and physical tests based on American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) methods or accepted industry standards in multiple test areas.
- Assists with equipment calibration, maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
- Cleans glassware and test equipment.
- Assists with preparing reagents as needed.
- Records data on appropriate data sheets and reports data to LIMS system.
- Maintains quality records, control charts, and lab supply inventories.
- Complies with safety, quality and housekeeping requirements.
- Participates in cross training as needed.
- Experience with ASTM, IP, and EN Methodology specific to Gas Chromatographic analysis on products such as Biodiesel, Crude Oil, Jet Fuel, Ethanol, Methanol, Gasoline, and Diesel Fuel.
- Experience and knowledge of calibrating, preventative maintenance, and first level repair of Gas Chromatographic systems in a Petroleum / Petrochemical testing & inspection Lab is highly desired and is preferred.
- Candidates with Gas Chromatography experience in all (or some) of the following techniques is desired and preferred over candidates without direct experience -
- Simulated Distillation by ASTM D7169
- Detailed Hydrocarbon Analysis by ASTM D7900, D6730
- ASTM D7169 & ASTM D7900 Data Merge
- GC-FID by ASTM D6584, D5599, D5501, IMPCA, EN15721, EN14103, EN14110
- GC-TCD by ASTM D3606
- GC-MS by ASTM D5769, IP585
- SFC by ASTM D5186, D8305, D6550
- HPLC by ASTM D6379
- High school diploma or GED preferred. Prefer successful completion of at least one semester of college level chemistry and/or prior work experience in a laboratory environment
- Experience working in a chemical / petroleum laboratory preferred but not required
- Must demonstrate ability to multi-task in high production testing areas.
- Must possess good math and observation skills.
- Must demonstrate proficiency using LIMS applications and established chemistry lab processes.
- Must demonstrate excellent team communication, coordination and cooperation.
- Must demonstrate ability to follow standard and non-standard procedures.
- Must demonstrate ability to utilize non-complex and complex instrumentation.
- Prefer proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must be able to work overtime as business needs dictate.
- Ability to regularly lift/carry up to 44 pounds.
- Ability to occasionally lift/carry up to 49 pounds.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Exposure to various chemicals.
