The Director of Nursing develops, organizes, implements, evaluates, and directs the nursing service department. Assists in updating policies and procedures.
Provides written and oral reports to the Administrator as necessary. Maintains the required staffing ration in order to provide quality of care. Develops work assignments and schedules for nursing personnel. Delegates duties to nursing personnel.
Actively participates in the budgeting process and performance improvement functions of the organization. Assists the Infection Control nurse in establishing and maintaining an effective program.
Makes daily rounds to all resident care areas in order to observe nursing staff as they perform assigned duties in accordance with facility established protocol.
Provides or assists with in-services for the facility staff. Be knowledgeable and promote resident rights. Prevents abuse, neglect, and exploitation in the elderly.
Coordinates with providers regarding care for the residents. Any other duties as directed by the Administrator.
Qualifications
- Management and supervising experience in nursing administration
- Proficiency in EMR and EHR systems
- Strong knowledge of physiology, medical terminology, and HIPAA regulations
- Experience in nursing home, home health, and hospice care
- Familiarity with Medicare guidelines and residents rights
- Previous experience is preferred
