Nursing Director - Nursing Home administers the nursing program in a nursing home in order to maintain standards of patient care. Advises management, patient care staff and administrators in matters related to nursing service. Being a Nursing Director - Nursing Home recommends establishment or revision of policies and develops organizational structure and standards of performance. Interprets policies and objectives of nursing service to staff and community groups. Additionally, Nursing Director - Nursing Home typically requires an advanced degree of nursing. Typically reports to top management or a facility administrator. Requires RN license. The Nursing Director - Nursing Home typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Nursing Director - Nursing Home typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Responsibilities
Completes patient care requirements by scheduling and assigning nursing and staff; follows up on work results
Establishes a positive work environment by providing support to patients and their families
Provides information to patients and the health care team by answering questions and requests
Ensures complete and prompt reporting to the Executive Director/Administrator
Ensures that significant changes in residents' conditions are communicated to the physician and family or responsible party
Qualifications
Registered Nurse RN with over a years' experience in nurse leadership of a long-term care setting (ADON or DON)
Must have knowledge of state and federal regulations
