Position Summary
This position is part of the VBA MDE (Veterans Benefits Administration Medical Disabilities Examinations) program. The Vendor schedules Veterans at contracted clinical facilities and embeds practitioners in facilities as needs warrant. Dedicated facilities are located in areas where there is a large Veteran population with the potential for high volume.
The appointments consist of assessments that help the VA answer questions about the Veterans’ current health. The practitioners will not make a determination of percent of disability or rating, develop any treatment plans or prescribe medication.
Prior to every exam, the practitioner reviews each Veteran’s medical or mental health history, using electronic bookmarks that highlight the portions applicable to the Veteran’s claim(s) condition. Electronic exam documentation must be submitted within 1-2 business days of each appointment. The work performed is reviewed by a team of medical professionals at LHI to ensure contract compliance. Any requests for changes or corrections must be completed within 1 business day.
Role Specifics
- Common reasons for assessment: PTSD, depression, anxiety and eating disorders
- While exam submission does have to be completed online, no typing is necessary while the Veteran is present in the room. Time is provided throughout the day for dictation so as not to disrupt the flow of the patient interview.
