Network Security System Analyst ensures the security of an organization's networks and systems. Performs network security assessments and risk analysis, and makes recommendations to improve network security. Being a Network Security System Analyst investigates security incidents and breaches. Recommends and deploys appropriate security products and solutions for various network platforms. Additionally, Network Security System Analyst configures and maintains firewalls and other network security tools and software. May conduct security trainings with employees. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Network Security System Analyst occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     The System Analyst position at NTS within the University of Alaska, Fairbanks (UAF), presents an exciting opportunity for a tech-savvy individual who thrives on collaboration and problem-solving. As a System Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between technology and organizational objectives. Working closely with cross-functional teams, academic departments, and key stakeholders, you will be responsible for understanding their technology needs and aligning solutions with the overarching goals of UAF. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving innovation and efficiency across campus, enabling the university to address evolving needs and deliver cutting-edge solutions.     To thrive in this role, the successful applicant demonstrate the following: knowledge, skills and abilities:

    • Automation Software - Chef, Puppet, or similar applications.
    • CI/CD Pipelines: familiarity with Git, and automated testing tools such as Travis-CI,
    Jenkins, or similar, as well as orchestration of deployments for continuous delivery.
    • Programming Languages - familiarity with various programming language such as Ruby,
    Python, Perl, Java, C/C , and a strong grasp of at least one language.
    • Web Development - Strong understanding of full-stack web development. Familiarity with
    JavaScript, CSS3, HTML5 and various frameworks and libraries. (Django, RAILS, Flask,
    Phoenix, NodeJS, etc.).
    • Databases: Understanding of DB design and SQL. NoSQL DB experience a plus but not
    required.
    • Cloud - track record with AWS preferred, but OpenStack, Google and Azure also of
    interest.
    • Experience with VMWare vSphere, vCenter Server, Horizon View, and ESXi.
    • Several years’ experience with Windows Server platforms.
    • Strong understanding of Active Directory.
    • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of computer networking.
    • Ability to identify and resolve complex problems.
    • Knowledge of security best practices and intrusion detection and prevention techniques.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
    • Four years’ field experience in a complex enterprise level environment

     Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor of Science Degree or higher in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.

    Position Details:

    This position is located on-site at the Troth Yeddha' Campus in Fairbanks, Alaska.  This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 81, based on education and experience.
