  • Program Description: Through the Rural Action Network® (RAN), CRC convenes a powerful, dynamic, and responsive network of nonprofits, community and government leaders, funders, and changemakers to tackle persistent issues in regions, develop and cultivate rural leadership, align and increase the giving of philanthropy with the needs of rural nonprofits, and support thriving, just communities across rural Colorado. The RAN umbrella of programming includes Rural Philanthropy Days (RPD)®, the work of our ongoing rural Regional Leadership Committees (RLCs), Virtual Funder Roundtables, and a Rural Advisory Committee. This program has been a critical component of CRC’s work to serve rural communities for over 30 years and CRC is striving to evolve this programming through deep listening and input from rural partners.

    Position Summary: This position manages components of the Rural Action Network® (RAN) program including the Rural Philanthropy Days (RPD)® program, convening the two RPD conference Steering Committees, leading the execution of the Virtual Funder Roundtables, and supporting the wider work of the Rural Action Network. This position is part of a team that will exercise deep listening and flexibility to evolve programming to meet the needs of rural partners. RAN provides critical capacity building opportunities for rural organizations to build their skills, connect with grant makers who can fund their visions, and build powerful relationships with other regional leaders. The position supervises regular and temporary program coordinators.

    This is a full time, regular, exempt position. This position is primarily remote and requires approximately 30% travel throughout the state of Colorado. It also requires in-person attendance at CRC events and quarterly attendance at Denver Headquarters for events and/or meetings.

    Essential Responsibilities:
    Program Management
    • In partnership with the Director of Capacity Building, manage the Rural Philanthropy Days (RPD) program and annual Virtual Funder Roundtables (VFRTs).
    • Develop and execute Rural Action Network (RAN) program plans to meet program goals, in partnership with the Director of Capacity Building.
    • Build trusting relationships with partners across Colorado, including with nonprofits, local and statewide funders, donors, community leaders, volunteers, regional and statewide advocacy organizations, and state and local government officials, ensuring the Rural Action Network is well-positioned to have impact.
    • Identify new program partners driving the regional work of the Rural Action Network, recruit diverse and dynamic Regional Leadership and Steering Committee partners.
    • Facilitate the two RPD conference Steering Committees in partnership with the Director of Capacity Building and local Steering Committee leadership.
    • Guide the two RPD Steering Committees through the planning of two successful annual conferences, oversee the two concurrent RPD conference workplans.
    • Facilitate effective RPD subcommittee meetings that result in both strengthened regional relationships and movement towards program objectives.
    • Engage in other components of the Rural Action Network including the Rural Advisory Committee and the annual RAN Convention.
    • Co-design and co-facilitate weekly RAN Program Meeting agenda with Director of Capacity Building.
    • Deliver capacity building trainings at RAN events including RPD conferences, and within the CRC education program.
    Event Registration and Outreach
    • Drive the event marketing of RPD and Virtual Funder Roundtables (VFRT). Coordinate content creation with CRC Marketing staff, approve marketing content, and ensure effective participant communications.
    • Serve as the lead for the design and management of registration pages for the RPD conference and Virtual Funder Roundtables. Support the other Rural Action Network events in the creation of registration, including coaching staff and troubleshooting issues.
    • Provide strong customer service, with positive communications with partners about registration, problem solving issues, and invoicing as needed.
    Management and Supervision:
    • Manage the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of two regional Rural Philanthropy Days Event Coordinators based in the conference host communities.
    • May supervise Rural Action Network Program Coordinator and RPD Event Coordinators including oversight of performance in their daily responsibilities, ensuring they are achieving necessary position objectives, and conducting performance reviews.
    • Provide direction, feedback, coaching and development to direct reports to grow as nonprofit professionals.
    • Review and approve expenditures and timesheets.
    Data Tracking, and Evaluation
    • Manage Rural Action Network program evaluation and reporting, including post-event surveys, administering mid-term behavior change evaluations, analyzing data, and making meaning through the design of evaluation reports.
    • Recommend and manage systems for measuring impact and efficacy of tactics to inform strategy development.
    • Oversee the drafting of monthly board reports and the CRC dashboard contributions for the Rural Action Network program.
    • Execute statewide data mapping project, including project supervision of research on giving trends in rural Colorado to strengthen rural philanthropy.
    • Conduct outreach to statewide funders to collect grant data and supervise the team of staff, VISTA members, and volunteers standardizing the data.
    Administrative and Fund Development
    • Design and maintain the RPD conference budgets in conjunction with the Director of Capacity Building.
    • Participate in monthly RAN Financials meeting and engage with members of CRC’s operations team to ensure accurate financial records.
    • Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with CRC policy and serve as the team lead in reconciling RAN event registrations and RPD conference budgets.
    • Review monthly financial reports, ensure accuracy, coding and suggest edits.
    • Create check requests for RAN vendors, send and follow up on invoices to event participants.
    • Participate in programmatic and organizational fund development efforts including grant writing and reporting, sponsorship cultivation, fee for service contracts, and contract negotiation.
    • Participate in monthly meetings of CRC’s Fund Development team, working to identify and cultivate new potential funders of the Rural Action Network, as well as prepare grant applications and reports for current funders.
    • Collaborate with CRC staff across the organization, participate in working groups, functional groups, staff meetings, annual budget preparation, and board meetings as requested.

    • Experience living or working in a rural community, possession of rural cultural competencies and strong understanding of the unique needs of rural nonprofits.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop strategies and tactics to create equitable and inclusive outcomes.
    • Confident public speaking, facilitation skills, presentation and/or teaching experience.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and foster collaboration, trust, and partnership in a complex program with several simultaneous priorities.
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Willingness to work cooperatively as part of a team.
    • Proficient with Google platforms, O365, Zoom, Canva, Word Press, Adobe, Constant Contact, and Salesforce
    • Ability and willingness to learn and use new online platforms.

    Qualification Requirements – Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
    • 3 field or related experience such as community development
    • 2 years of management and supervisory experience
    • 3 years’ work with rural communities
    Preferred qualifications:
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
    • Live and/or work in one of CRC’s eight rural regions in Colorado
    • Experience with budget and contract management
    Work Location, Schedule, and Environment:
    • This is primarily a remote with approximately 30% travel throughout Colorado, some overnight travel
    • Required in person attendance at CRC events and quarterly events at Denver Headquarters
    • Flexibility and capacity to work in a fast paced, fluid, changing work environment
    • Administrative tasks will require work in a home office or office setting
    • Working on a computer for multiple hours at a time, sitting or standing

    Compensation & Benefits:
    Annual Salary Range: $55,000. – $56,000.
    Bi-weekly pay periods
