  • The Manager of Underwriting Services manages day to day operations ensuring consistent customer service needs, service level agreements, production and quality goals are met. Identifies and implements process improvements with a focus on outcomes that are in support of organizational underwriting priorities and objectives. Utilizing process excellence skills to create operational consistency and process efficiency. They will support the activities of hiring, executing performance management activities as well as coaching and developing their team.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Direct responsilbility for managing a team of frontline Underwriting Service Representatives
    • Monitor workflow processes for efficiency, and accuracy.
    • Partner with Training and Quality manager to develop quality assurance program, ensure proper protocols are followed and quality standards are met.
    • Partner with Training and Quality manager to provide process and procedural updates to ensure training materials and job aides are current.
    • Responsible for partnering with key stakeholders for implementation of standardized processes and procedures.
    • Monitoring, measuring and reporting operational results and performance.
    • Oversee Underwriting Services and meet regularly to discuss results, workload priorities to ensure balance amongst the staff, and update work processes and changes for the underwriting division.
    • Cultivate and manage Payroll Services agent relationships.
    • Collaboration with internal business partners and external agents.
    • Escalation point of contact for internal stakeholders and external agents.
    • Regularly meeting with the Underwriting division to create a culture of continuous improvement while maintaining and fostering strong stakeholder relationships.
    • Creates and fosters culture of continuous improvement and process efficiency while maintaining underwriting integrity and fostering strong customer relationships.
    • Approve and manage operational expenses for UW Services.
    • Support organizational and departmental change management efforts.
    • Conduct performance reviews and performance management.
    • Partner with compliance to ensure adherence to standards.
    • Manage Third-Party/Outsource Vendor resources to include training, on-boarding, and performance.
    • Responsible for recruiting, interviewing and hiring.



    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Strong business and financical acumen.
    • Proven knowledge with Workers Compensation processes, regulatory compliance, and systems
    • Minimum five years of operations leadership experience.
    • Ability to collaborate with cross-funtional leaders.
    • Proficient in MicroSoft Office products, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio and Teams.
    • Ability to analyze data and information to solve complex business issues and develop KPI’s
    • Demonstrated abilty to effectively build and maintain agent and broker relationships.
    • Demonstated ability to manage multiple projects and day-to-day operations simultaneously.
    • Experience in documenting and implementing standardized operating procedures.
    • Ability to develop and enhance reporting capabilities.



    EDUCATION:

    • BS/BA college degree or equivalent experience. The knowledge and skill levels acquired through undergraduate level studies especially in the areas of Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, or Risk Mangement.
    • Minimum of 4 years of P & C insurance industry experience, Workers Compensation experience preferred.
